Rengas
This time I'm also making natural wood type of 12 steps 3 sun box. The red wood (marked with a white circle) used in this natural wood box is "Rengas", this is from Southeast Asia, there are currently restrictions on logging, and imports to Japan have almost disappeared. In my workshop, I still have wood that I purchased about 20 years ago. So sometimes I'll use it.
This laminated design (striped design) is less affected by the outside air than a single type of solid wood, so solid wood is sometimes used for lids as well (Please refer to yesterday's article).
