Arigato box
The 14 steps 8 sun Long "Arigato" puzzle box will be completed soon. I have just finished the base coat, after which it will be polished with sandpaper and painted again (finish coat).
This time, I created a design with green as the main color, imagining a natural and gentle feeling from the word "Thank you (Arigato)". Of course, the top panel and words on this box are not made of wood; they are printed. There is concern that the top panel (and the printed character) may be damaged by friction or impact, but this is not a problem as the words is painted over.
The character is not printed directly onto the top panel but printed on paper and then pasted onto the MDF board (top panel). If you try it (maybe not😅), you will see that pasting paper is very difficult. If you use glue with too much moisture, it will expand and tear. The adhesive strength must also be strong, so the sheet on this box is attached with a special adhesive. Adjusting the position of the letters and the method of pasting them also requires some skill. I think it's more difficult than pasting yosegi sheets.
Once the paper sheet is pasted, it will need to be primed (base coat) quickly to protect it from damage caused by humidity, heat, etc. I will be applying the top coat this weekend.
