New Cube box

It was another cold morning today. Last night, I went to buy kerosene for heating, and the gas station attendant said, "We sold a lot today, but it seems like the really cold weather will only last until tomorrow." I hope it gets warmer little by little..☀️

And today, I continued my work from yesterday. This morning, I attached the Kannuki panel on one side of the 5-sun 27-steps puzzle box. With this, the assembly of this box is complete. If possible, I plan to move on to the base coating tomorrow. However, I have an errand to run, so I might only have time for the base coating.

And I’m planning to prepare for my next project.
This time, I’ve decided to make the 3-sun cube with a 27-step mechanism. I have received several work requests, but after considering various conditions, I chose to make this box. This will be my first time creating a 27-step mechanism with this design. The design features a three-color checkered Yosegi (ichimastu) pattern, which I have made several times since last year. I have already attached the Yosegi sheet today.Since this box is quite wide, it needs to be in a well-dried condition. First, I attached the Yosegi sheet. next I need to let it dry thoroughly for a few days.

Actually, I was originally planning to keep this 3-sun cube box at 18 steps, like my previous one. However, I decided to make the 27-step mechanism this time. The reason I hesitated was that balancing the cost and complexity of the mechanism is challenging. This box requires a lot of materials and effort, making it more expensive than typical puzzle boxes of this size. Adding the 27-step mechanism would increase the cost even further, and I was concerned that the price might become too high for a box of this size. However, since no other makers have created a box like this, I felt a strong desire to make it myself. As I mentioned before, I want to create puzzle boxes that are hard to find elsewhere, which is why I decided to go ahead with this project. Of course, this is from the maker's perspective, but if I keep repeating the same designs, my motivation naturally decreases. I feel especially excited when creating new types of puzzle boxes. Although the appearance will be the same as the 18-step version in the photo, I hope customers will enjoy the new challenge🙏😄
