3 sun Cube 18 steps box (4)

The weekend, I made progress on several tasks. The final side of the 3-sun cube puzzle box I’ve been working on was attached today. I plan to begin the base coating process tomorrow. Similarly, the attachment work for the 2-sun cube puzzle box, which I am making at the same time, has also been completed. I plan to start base coating them both tomorrow.

The photo shows the process of attaching the final side of the 3-sun cube puzzle box. As expected with a 3-sun cube, the larger surface area of the panels makes it ideal for this attachment process. When the adhesive surface area is smaller, the panels are more prone to warping, so a box with a larger surface area like this is more suitable.
This is the first time I have made an 18-step mechanism in this box shape, and the work proceeded smoothly. In conclusion, having a larger adhesive surface area compared to non-adhered sections is the ideal approach.

As the year draws to a close, I’ve started work on the final 5-sun box of the year—the 27-step puzzle box. Today, I prepared the materials and worked on the box's frame. The box is expected to be completed around the 31st. Since I currently have no stock of 5-sun boxes, I decided to proceed with its production.
This time, I plan to incorporate more traditional Yosegi designs and create some with natural wood designs. I recently made the 5-sun 27-step puzzle box as well, but both this box and the 5-sun 10-step drawer-type puzzle box are popular items. I believe it’s ideal to always have at least one type of these in stock. I’ll continue working on these tasks tomorrow.
