2.5 sun 5 steps box

Today, I attached the second side of the Kannuki(slide key) panel to the 4-sun, 27-step puzzle box that I’ve been working on since last week. With this, all the panels for this 27-step puzzle box have been attached. This weekend's weather was excellent—dry and ideal for attaching the panels. The 27-step puzzle box is relatively resistant to panel warping (differences like this can vary depending on the number of steps or the box’s shape), but it’s always preferable to work in dry conditions when attaching panels. Starting tomorrow, depending on the weather, I’ll proceed with the finishing process of painting.

With the 27-step puzzle box completed, I resumed work on the 2.5-sun 5-step puzzle box, which I had paused previously. Today, I focused on crafting and attaching the Aruki pieces. It’s been a while since I last made this type of box, so I carefully checked the Aruki dimensions as I worked. Although it’s a 5-step puzzle box, its structure and movements are similar to those of a 10-step box. Starting from 12 steps, the Aruki’s design slightly changes. Despite its small size, this box is designed to hold an even smaller "Mame-sized" puzzle box inside. Next time, I’ll move on to attaching the Yosegi panels.

With the start of December yesterday, it’s time to plan the order of tasks for the rest of this year. For now, I’ve decided to prioritize the 2-sun puzzle boxes and the Mame puzzle boxes for the Hakone market.
