Today was hot, with the temperature exceeding 20°C. I started working on the 4-sun 27-step Japanese puzzle boxes today. However, I made a slight change to the initial plan and decided to produce around 30 boxes with traditional Yosegi designs on the top and bottom panels. The side panels will feature the planned Ichimatsu Yosegi design.
The photo shows the structural frame parts I crafted today. This puzzle box also requires several additional components, including the small, staircase-shaped parts shown in the picture. These parts are usually produced in excess and stored for future 27-step puzzle box projects. This time, since these small parts were in short supply, I made a new batch.
I try to use harder types of wood for small components like these. These particular parts are made from walnut wood. To prevent the tips of the staircase-shaped sections from chipping, it’s best to use wood that is not only hard but also has some flexibility.
I am currently working on several projects simultaneously, but making a large number of these 27-move boxes would cause delays in other productions. So, I decided to limit the quantity to 30 this time. Since I handle all the production myself, whenever I focus on one item, something else inevitably gets put on hold 😂 That said, the 27-step box is a popular item, and I believe it will be in demand during the upcoming Christmas sale. I hope to complete the production as quickly as possible.
