4.2 sun 27 steps box
The temperature has suddenly cooled down since this weekend, and the humidity is very low. This makes it a great day for attaching the side panels. Because of this, I’ve been working on attaching the side panels for the 4.2-sun Japanese puzzle box both yesterday and today (photo).
The design for the side panels this time will look like the one in the photo. It’s a style that uses a lot of Agathis wood, and I’ve used the same design for previous 4.2-sun boxes. The materials were prepared in advance and had been thoroughly dried, so I decided to use them for this project. In the center of the panels, there is a line made of Hoo wood. Aligning the position of this line between the long side panels and the short ones is very difficult because even a slight shift can occur during the attachment process.
As I mentioned a few days ago, this solid wood top panel design will likely be the last for this particular style. I will be making another 27-step puzzle box next time, but it will feature a different design. Additionally, I’ve included a few top panels made of Zebra-wood this time. With the Christmas sale season approaching, there are always customers who prefer boxes that are not made with traditional yosegi patterns, so I make sure to include options like these as well.
In addition to this, today I also started preparing for the 5-sun 27-step puzzle box traditional yosegi type (photo). Although I have a small amount in stock, I’ve received some orders and plan to make some more soon. This one will feature a traditional yosegi design, using specially crafted yosegi sheets for the 5-sun size. Since these sheets have become quite rare recently, I plan to produce about 30 units this time.
